May 5, 2015: Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) increases for 2015 ›

The federal government is expanding the Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) in 2015, increasing the age of eligibility to include children up to 18 years of age (previously up to six years of age).

If you have children under the age of 18, you are eligible to claim the UCCB. That’s up to $1,920 per year for children under the age of six, and up to $720 per year for children aged six through 17. Retroactive payments will be received in July for the period of January-June 2015.

With the rising costs of college and university education, this may present an opportunity to start a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) for your child. An RESP offers flexibility, tax-sheltered growth and savings, and matching government funds.

Talk to a Libro Coach today or visit your local branch to find out how to leverage your UCCB into a plan that works best for you and your family.

For additional information on UCCB eligibility and payments visit the Canada Revenue Agency website.
