Co-operative Young Leaders (CYL) is a summer experience unlike any other. This week-long camp brings young people together from all across Ontario to learn about, and practice, communication and leadership through co-operative activities. Since its inception in 1967, more than 2500 young people have gone through Ontario Co-operative Young Leaders program.
CYL has three main goals:
Along the way, other great things happen. CYL-ers develop new support networks and peer groups; they have the opportunity to learn more about themselves and the world in which they live; and they are exposed to skills and thought processes.
CYL is organized into three levels, Junior, Intermediate and Senior, and is available to any young person between the ages of 14 and 18. Each day is structured around specific goals combining recreation, learning opportunities and fun. CYL is a leadership camp that is dynamic and interactive. CYL-ers will learn new things by being active and having fun. And they'll meet lots of new friends while they're at it
CYL-ers participate in exercises and activities which emphasize teamwork and group development. CYL is all about learning and practicing new ideas and new ways of doing things in a safe and supportive environment.
Libro Financial Group is one of the founding sponsors of CYL and has been sending young owners through the program for 25 years! We remain one of the largest sponsors of youth to the program each summer.
This is no ordinary summer camp, and we want our young owners to experience it!
Junior: First-time participants aged 14 and 15 (must be 14 by time of camp) are introduced to the basics of how to be a leader, how to co-operate and be a team player. You will learn about the history and principles of co-operation.
Intermediate: This session is geared toward junior grads and anyone aged 16 and 17. Emphasis is on leadership, co-operation skills, and a more in-depth look at co-ops and credit unions. This session provides an overview of the key ways to be both a leader and a strong team player. During your stay, you will learn about the history and principles of co-operation.
Senior: This challenging but fun program is for Intermediate grads, or anyone 18 years of age. It offers advanced-level activities to promote leadership and co-operation with emphasis on honing communication, facilitation and personal/life balance skills.
All camps are held at the Lake St. George Field Centre, just south of Richmond Hill.
